Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Everything about this place is pretty average. My boyfriend and I stopped on our from Bisbee to Tucson for the $6.99 buffet lunch special. There was a make your own taco or burrito section along with rice and beans and a few other entrees to choose from. Couldn't really tell what any of them were- mostly covered in cheese, but it was good. The desserts weren't that great and I would recommend skipping them altogether. I must say the service was great and we never had an empty glass. It's worth giving this place a try- especially during happy hour- but don't be too excited for amazing food.

This is a brand new restaurant for Sierra Vista, so we were anxious to try it out. First off, the service was excellent. Our waiter Travis was eager to assist and I would consider him a real asset. I had the cactus which was absolutely full of flavor, I really enjoyed it. I did ask for some tortillas on the side because I felt this dish was better served with the tortillas and salsa to make it just perfect. My dining partner had the shrimp, he was not as happy with his. He said that the shrimp was still a bit cold inside so perhaps it wasn't heated or cooked to the proper specifications. I will say that this was probably the first week after the restaurant opening so there are bound to be some glitches along the way. With the vast menu choices and excellent service we received from Travis I will be more than happy to try out this restaurant again.

I ate here a few times shortly after it opened and was not impressed. It was "ok" but nothing special or memorable. However my experience this past week was quite enjoyable. There are new chefs now and it's obvious. The servers were extremely friendly and attentive. I had the fajitas based on my waitress's recommendation and was extremely pleased. I'm glad I gave them another chance; It seems as if they are really trying to improve and correct the mistakes that happened after opening. If you've been there before and were disappointed I would highly recommend giving them another chance. I'm sure glad I did.

I took my family of six last night to this newly opened Mexican Restaurant to give it a try. I figured service and food quality should be decent after a month or so of being opened. The waitress was attentive to our drink needs so that was a positive, but failed to even ask us how the food was. I think she already knew. My wife took a bite out of her sea bass dish and couldn't eat anymore as the same went for my daughter who had the same dish. Fish was over cooked and dry. The vegetables had NO seasoning. Worst vegetables I had at any restaurant. I had the steak. Which was cooked properly but we very thin. The rest of my dish was "meh". My older son had the steak strips. Those were tasty but his side dishes did not match what the menu said. My 7 year old twins ordered the tacos with rice from the children's menu. Their food came out in 15 minutes. They were finished before any other dish came out, which was another 15-20 minutes. Bad timing on expediting there. The tacos were far worse than Taco Bell tacos. The shells are store bought and broke easily. Meat is shoved in there and the rest is thrown on the side of the plate do you to fill. Sad. I mentioned we have six people in my family, and usually most restaurants add an automatic gratuity after 8 or more. I was surprised to see that already in there. In my opinion, the food is way over priced for the quality. After that experience, I can definitely say my family and I will never be returning.

The food was absolutely fantastic. Everyone at our table enjoyed what they got (Fajitas, Chicken Melt, Nachos, Steak Fundido, Chicken Aztec). The magaritas are only $4 and were delicious. The only thing lacking was good service. There was barely anyone in there on a week night and all the servers were rushed and just not great at their job. The waiter misremembered an order, but they fixed it AND comped it so I can't hold that against them.

Solidly mediocre. Service was extremely slow in a half-filled restaurant. We were met and seated quickly but it took about 5 minutes to get chips and drinks. The chips were gone in a minute and never refilled. The drinks were gone in 3 minutes and not refilled until almost done with the meal. The meal itself was inoffensive but without any special flavor. It was Sesame Street Mexican food. Call it a 4 for food and a 1 for service.

Tried La Fuente for the first time today. I had the lunch buffet - cheese enchiladas, soups (Albondigas and Menudo), salad, hard and soft shell tacos, beans, rice, chips and salsa, desserts. The salsa was good - very fresh. The service was good, too. I'll definitely go back and try something from the menu!

Soooo excited to see this place open...They have great Mexican food to satisfy any stage of hungry, appetizers that keep your taste buds wanting more, and tasty margaritas that compliment any meal...The service is beyond any expectations. Everyone is smiling and happy to serve. You will definitely leave happy, full, with money still in your pocket. Can't wait to come back...

Good selection of salsas with chips. Vege combo solid and mole chicken enchiladas good as well. The Margo was lame but they have at least one excellent beer choice (Torpedo IPA) so you're not stuck with Bud Lite. Decent prices.

Mediocre at best....... We went with friends who raved about it. I was very disappointed. My food was lacking in flavor. I've had much better Mexican before. Won't be going back unless I have to.
(2)Heather Z.
Okay Mexican food. For what they charge, I would expect a little more kick in my food.

Great service and good food. This place may not be the best, but you can't beat service like this.

We were excited to try this new Mexican place and its renovations made it look inviting. We ate there for the first time on Halloween night. It was so disappointing. I ordered the carne asada plate and my fiance had the steak fundido. My carne asada was practically tasteless and barely seasoned. They forgot the enchilada and the guacamole that came with it. My fiance's plate was just awful. It was bits of steak that had greasy, nearly burned cheese sprinkled on it on a cast-iron skillet. Not at all what we were expecting, and certainly NOT MEXICAN. The service was good and they had a good attitude which is why I think they deserve a couple extra stars for their efforts to provide a fun and festive environment on Halloween (they had a haunted house, some kid-friendly activities, and a costume contest for kids..based on audience clapping...which I thought was a bit harsh for kids that small). However, I don't think we'll be back for the food.

Blah Fuente. No spice, no flavor. Every dish is edible but nothing stands out. Each "special" named dish is basically a chicken breast with some bland sauce or a boring masa tamale. They are afraid of spice (not just heat, I mean spices). The chips here do beat the artificially yellow bits they call chips at La Casita. We had warm (temperature) salsa at La Fuente. How can that even happen? I had high hopes that they would somehow overcome the issues at the Tucson store, but no such luck.

I gave this place a chance in hopes that I would find something that I like - at the bar or on the menu. But with dry rice and bland beans to accompany the meals that are prevalent here in the southwest, it is just not worth your time. Service was bad. The bartender asked if I wanted chips and salsa, to which I said yes, of course! I honestly wondered why she asked instead of just serving it as per usual for a Mexican restaurant. I saw the people down the bar from me get chips and salsa, so I know they exist, but I never got them. Seems a little petty, but it's like Mexican Restaurant 101. The enchiladas were not tasteless. There, I said as much as I can about them. Go anywhere else.
(1)Sunny T.
Not great, but good. I prefer the nachos supreme and the coco margarita (kind of a blend of a pina colada and a margarita). I was not pleased with the taco salad I had ordered in the past...just sayin'.

Decided to give this place a try and was pretty impressed! We went on a Thursday night so it wasn't too busy; they had live music and a raffle of some sort going on to give away free meals and such. Pretty neat. Our waitress was very kind, so overall service was nice. As for food, it was pretty good. If you're looking for more traditional Mexican food I would say there are better options in this town but it was not bad. I ordered the chimichanga which came with rice, beans, some guacamole and sour cream. Everything was full of flavor and we also received chips and a trio of salsas. Not bad.

I dont write a lot of reviews, but I feel obligated to in the present case because La Fuente is so much better than you might think from reading some of the other comments on this site. The first time I went to La Fuente, my wife and I got there late, five minutes past closing. The manager had already shut the door for the night, and the kitchen staff had started to break things down for the evening. But someone saw my wife peeking through the window, and so the manager came over, unlocked the door, and, despite our protests, insisted that we come in and have dinner. The manager then proceeded to wait our table personally. Needless to say, at $10-$15 a plate, this is not typical restaurant service. On that first night, I ordered the chili rellenos, which are, without question, the only good rellenos you can get in Sierra Vista. On subsequent trips, I enjoyed the mole chicken enchiladas and several different variations of their quesadilla. Each time, the manager recognized my wife and I, visited our table, and thanked us for coming. I've been to better Mexican restaurants in my life. But not in Sierra Vista and certainly not with this level of customer service.

The only thing worse than the service at la fuente is the food. That aside, the bartender was capable of opening a mean Corona bottle. impressive. let's get started: The "supreme" nachos -upon ordering this dish, I wondered if even a cockroach would eat it. Not even one chip was crisp enough to hold the "cheese" that topped it. It would be more practical to eat this dish with a soup spoon rather than your hands. For some reason it was covered it green goop that reminded me of the slimer ghost from Ghostbusters. The sour cream and guac appeared to be sloped on with the same care that lunch lady Doris peels out sloppy joes. Carne Asada burrito - pretty sure the meat wasn't even cooked. Not even really sure it was meat honestly. I wouldn't feed this to prison inmates. after sitting at the table, my wife and I waited approximately 20 minutes for service. On minute 21, some mullet covered weirdo with 6 lip rings...I shit you not, 6 lip rings... approached the table and said "like how long have you guys been here?" At this point, I feel obligated to point out that he was in fact the same person who seated us. We ordered our beers and food at the same time, and waited approximately 25 minutes for each. I should mention that they served chips at some point with three "side sauces" which turned out to be watered down guacamole. If you just want food, then I honestly recommend saving your money, walking across the street to taco bell and ordering 80 tacos. If you hate yourself, then I highly recommend la fuente.

We went to the brunch....it had a very good selection. We had a very nice waitress. The only thing i would suggest for the brunch LABEL the dang food!!!!!! Or educate your servers on what is in the tamale and which one is which. A little to loud for a brinch atmoshpere maybe quite the band it was in my face the whole time. But the three stars is for the food and our waitress. Oh and being pregnant and put on a high top table....not my favorite. It wasnt even packed plenty of regular tables where available.

I am writing this review after three separate visits. FOOD: 2/5 The food is mediocre at best. The big reason I give the food here a low rating is because of the lack of consistency. For example, the chips and salsa that they give is amazing but each time I go I get different quality. One visit the chips are fresh, light, and crispy. The second time I go it's stale and hard. The third visit the chips are over-done. The salsa. I want to say they are hand-made in the back which I applaud; however, again the consistency is lacking. The flavoring differs with every visit. If the manager would apply some sort of quality assurance/process management, I believe this could be easily fixed. The salsa can (has been) great at times! The rest of the main entrees are just bland and too simple. Plating is not "fun" and doesn't really add any excitement to your dishes. I did enjoy their chicken salad only because I thought the chicken to salad ratio was surprisingly high. SERVICE: 1/5 Okay, here is La Fuente's downfall. The service is sub-par. If there was one thing they could work on that could maybe add a star or two to their average reviews would be their service. Their staff and service process is severely inefficient. Most also do not seem so friendly and sociable. They rarely smile and don't seem to be in any rush to meet customer requests. Many times water would be low/empty, chips/salsa low/empty, etc. for longer than reasonable amounts of time. I really appreciate when servers come and check on their tables periodically to see if the customer needs anything. This did not happen. AMBIANCE: 4/5 La Fuente, a mexican-style restaurant, took over Sasquatch, an American-food restaurant, but the interior has not changed much. I don't feel they invested too much on the interior to sync up with the whole Mexican flavor. Still, it's clean and offers a very relaxed environment with ample seating. Recommendations to La Fuente Manager: 1. Implement quality assurance on the foods. Maybe the preparation process is solid but maybe the food source quality has diminished? 2. Train staff to be more cordial, friendly, and sociable. Have them smile (more)! 3. Train staff to constantly look up and OBSERVE the tables in the ENTIRE restaurant not just their own section/table. Service can get busy, I get it, so it's more important that they work together as a team and ensure customers are taken care of. 4. Ask corporate for additional funds to acquire more Mexican-themed decor especially in the plating. (low priority)

Stopped by for lunch while passing through town. Decent atmosphere; semi friendly waiter staff (seemed a bit over eager to earn a tip) mediocre/bland food (shouldn't Mexican food have a plethora of spices?) Surely better Mexican eateries in Sierra Vista. Don't settle!
(2)Jesse E.
We had dinner there a few nights ago. I had the shrimp cocktail and Pastel Azteca. Service was great, especially with how packed they were and on an opening weekend. Our server was obviously experienced and knew what was on the menu. Food was mediocre Mexican. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were still frozen and not very plentiful. The entree was pretty bland for Mexican. My wife had something equally boring. I keep hoping for good Mexican from the restaurants here in Southeast Arizona and I keep getting disappointed. I'll go back in a few weeks and try something else, maybe the lunch buffet, and update my review.

All I can say is there's much better Mexican food places in Sierra Vista. I came here the week they opened. My server was a gentleman complaining about the place and his life. It was extremely awkward and uncomfortable. His service was terrible I could understand if it was a super busy night but it was Sunday night and it was slow. The younger guys working to fill drinks and chips were awesome though. So I can't say the service was entirely terrible. The food was mediocre like I said there's much better local places to eat Mexican food. The second we got up to leave our server made a dash to the table to see his tip. At least wait until we're 10ft away! We won't be going back.

Had a great experience. First great thing thing was i did not see pork Carnitas on the menue. So I asked the server if they were available to modify the cane asata tacos. less than a minut later the manager came over and asked what i would like and how i would like it. After our order the food took no more than 10 minuts to come to the table fresh and exactly what we wanted, in a nice portion. There was a live singer to livin up the atmosphere. Service was exalent, food was great. This is the third time I have eaten here. Best thing of all is consistency.

We ate lunch here for my Hubbys bday I got the lunch buffet the ck mole was good, I loved the calabacitas, I loved the menudo and the posole deelish! They brought out fresh cheese enchiladas after I asked twice they were not hot waa! Our server was so bad (she was sitting at the table next to us w friends it was awesome!) but the other servers stepped in and helped. Rich ordered the combo plate he liked the food alot we had to ask for the chips and salsa three varieties green avacado salsa yum! My fave we will be beack ! Go check them out

This place has authentic Mexican food, not like the american "taco bell" stuff. It was very good. They have a taco bar on Tuesday and Thursday, with a selection of different meats. They have great prices, but will also add a military discount with no issues. Definitely worth checking out.
(4)Cristina L.
La Fuente right now is "meh Fuente". I know they just opened. I went for lunch and right now the servers and other staff are over attentive, to the point that you can hardly enjoy your meal. The meal was served nice and hot. It was just ok though, nothing impressive, same with my margarita. Let's hope the kinks are worked out. I'd go for another visit and hope the whole experience improves.
(2)Robert M.
Service was ok, my carne a sad a burrito was excellent but the bland beans and bland rice was a disappointment. Might give it another chance but we will see.

So I rarely will retry a restaurant if it disappoints so badly the first time but, for some reason, we decided last Saturday to give it another try. My husband had the lunch buffet which seemed to have lots of choices. He enjoyed it, especially the arroz con leche. I decided to try the vegetarian combo which was outstanding. My food was delivered hot (an upgrade from last time) and was very flavorful. Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised and will go again.
(4)Jane T.
Probably the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Ingredients seemed to be the cheapest possible and the result was a very poor, bland and tasteless meal. I took my husband there for his birthday and we were so disappointed. we didn't even finish our meal, just paid for it and left. They didn't even ask why we left most of our food or offer to bring us something else. They probably already knew the food was lousy. I'll never go there again. I really wish an authentic Mexican restaurant was available in Sierra Vista. Maybe someday!
(1)Highdesert J.
Ordered lunch to go, mole chicken enchiladas and regular chicken enchiladas. Food was pretty good, better than I expected based on previous reviews. Chips and salsa were good. Portions were a bit small. Price was about average. Staff was friendly and fast. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Will return to try different menu items.
(4)Mary G.
This is the fourth time I have been here with family to eat. Our table ordered the Patty melt, Santa fe supreme, Cod o' le, and the Country fried steak. It was Veterans Day. Most if the places in town were honoring veterans with a free meal. We were disappointed that this place did not offer any recognition to our veteran dining with us. The Santa fe supreme is a HUGE sandwich! It was perfectly described in the menu & tasted wonderful. Patty melt wasn't grand but it was good. The country fried steak was a huge plate with beautiful eye appeal. It was so good that I thought our veteran was going to lick the plate! The cod was disappointing. It was cooked too long & kinda crunchy. It was also very greasy. The flavor was good. The seasonal veggies were perfect. Slightly crunchy but still tender & seasoned just right. The rice pilaf is one of my favorites. The house salad is a step above most other places here. It has a nice portion of lettuce topped with 2 big thick slices of fresh tomatoes, 2 big cucumber slices, a pile of shredded carrots, and crispy toppings. I tried to count all the TV's they had but stopped at 16!!!!
(4)K L.
We were hoping this new Mexican restaurant might be our replacement for the now defunct La Casita, but our hopes were dashed by mediocre meals and tiny portions. Two of the 3 "salsas" were inedible. Service was good, but we're guessing that was due to the fact that they have only recently opened. If only they paid as much attention to the quality of the food. A real shame.
(2)Jim V.
in the beginning they had a real customer focus, but as the weeks went by this slowly went away. food was terrible, service borderline. tried the buffet today and when they cannot even fully melt the cheese in an enchilada you have to question their viability. I will not go back. I will stick with santiagos in Bisbee.

La Fuente catered an Italian feast for my husband's unit holiday party last week. My husband has almost 15 years experience in hospitality as a general manager and wedding coordinator in four diamond hotels and fine dining restaurants outside of the Army on the East Coast; he had high expectations for the Holiday Party. Allow me to say that La Fuente delivered on all fronts, price, quality, freshness, taste, and they were extremely pleasant and flexible to work with. The food was absolutely outstanding! Chef Albert prides himself on the use of fresh and when available, local ingredients. All items were prepared fresh for the event including a fresh traditional basil pesto (my favorite item). The staff stayed to help serve the guests on the buffet line. La Fuente provided a farmers salad with fresh lemon vinaigrette dressing, minestrone soup, bruschetta items including roasted peppers, marinated tomatoes, and the fresh pesto, an antipasti selection of Italian meats, cheeses, olives and peppers, 2 pasta choices (alfredo and marinara sauce with meatballs), a fig and honey glazed steak entree, and a pork with mushroom jus choice as well. The staff finished the desserts on site, by piping the cannolis and torching the creme burlee. The food and service provided by La Fuente for this event exceeded the expectations of the Unit, the fantastic Windemere Staff, and certainly my husband's. It helped make the Holiday Party a huge success. I would absolutely recommend La Fuente's variety of Catering options to anyone who is looking for a caterer in and around Sierra Vista.
(5)Michael R.
They get 1 star for decent Margaritas and the server's personality. Our party of 6 went to La Fuente last night for dinner, as recommended by a local retailer, who started by saying, "This is Sierra Vista, so there's not much." Flour tortillas were horrible; if you are a Mexican restaurant and you can't make a proper tortilla, buy them at the store. We did not think it possible to make a bad quesadilla, but this place succeeded. The "mole" on the shredded chicken was salty and sweet, not savory and bold with flavor, the way it should be. The shrimp fajitas were awful. The shrimp was tough and over-cooked. The rice that comes with each entree was clearly from a box and the beans probably out of a can and over-cooked/dry. Don't spend money on guacamole; it is watered down and tasteless. I just cannot understand how this place remains open. Perhaps, because we come from L.A., we expect too much, but you would think a Mexican restaurant just miles from the Mexican border at Nogales would be authentic. We may as well have been eating in Canada....come to think of it, the Mexican food we had in Canada a few years ago was muy authentico by comparison. If you want Mexican food in Sierra Vista, try someplace else. Even Taco Bell would be a better option. ~ An update...2 of the 6 people in our party became very sick on the food. 1 was from enchiladas with red sauce, which caused an upset stomach and was tasted all of today, and 1 was from sea bass, which he said "tasted a little funny" and gave him gastrointestinal distress all night (enough said). In any case, none of us will ever visit La Fuente again. Such a shame.

we ate here the night it opened. the service was spotty, but all four of us enjoyed our meals. my husband I had their buffet lunch yesterday and it was great. this time the service was top drawer.
